The Cajon is a descendant of box drums made and played by slaves. Today they are found in Peru and Cuba. To ensure quality and availability, we make our own Cajons in both styles. (Peruvian style not shown) The Cuban Cajons are available in 3 sizes; the Caja, which is the bass, the Segundo, or middle, and the Quinto, or lead cajon. They are constructed of quality materials and have a durable lacquer finish. Available in red, green or yellow tints that allow the natural wood grain to show through. It is typical for the Quinto and the Sugundo to have a "buzz" sound when played.
This is a detail of the caja, or bass cajon. It is large enough for the player to sit tunable bass port. Earth Shaking Music can provide the caja modified to serve as a carrying case for the quinto and segundo. Please call them to discuss these options and their availability.
